If Moses had GPS, the Exodus would’ve taken 2 weeks, not 40 years. Sometimes the scenic route is the point. At Camp Young Judaea, we’re taking the scenic route to growing up. CYJ Texas stands as a powerful counterforce—a place where genuine human connection thrives without digital distractions.

Something truly magical happens when we ditch the phones. Suddenly, campers look up, make eye contact, and actually SEE each other. They learn to read facial expressions, understand tone, and respond to others’ emotions—fundamental building blocks of empathy no app could ever teach. This tech-free zone isn’t just some nostalgic throwback—it’s absolutely revolutionary in today’s hyperconnected world!

Without the constant ping of notifications, our campers discover the gift of being fully present. They develop the ability to focus and listen, engage in real conversation, and form friendships based on shared experiences rather than shared posts!

The tech-free bubble might seem challenging at first, but it quickly becomes incredibly liberating! Kids rediscover their creativity, their voices, and most importantly, each other—building resilience and social confidence that will serve them long after summer ends. Likely to your surprise, but not to ours, we hear so many campers express joy for taking a break from the screens.

CYJ’s unplugged environment might be one of the greatest gifts we can offer our children—a sacred space where connection to heritage, to Israel, and each other happens face-to-face, heart-to-heart, and where the people matter more than the likes and comments. This is one of the things I love about CYJ. I hope you do as well. Happy Passover!
