If you’re able to give beyond cash, these options can mean a larger gift to CYJ — often at no extra cost and often with great tax benefits for you. As always, we recommend talking with your financial advisor or tax professional about what’s right for your situation.
Gifts of Appreciated Stock
Own stock, mutual funds, or ETFs that have gone up in value? Donating the shares directly (instead of selling them and giving the cash) avoids capital gains tax on the appreciation while letting you deduct the full fair market value of the gift. Grants from Your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
Already have a DAF? Recommending a grant to CYJ takes just a couple of minutes. Prefer to go directly through your DAF administrator? Just request a grant to:Camp Young Judaea, 5410 Bellaire Blvd, Suite 207, Bellaire, TX 77401. EIN: 74-6063430.
Give Tax-Free from Your IRA (QCD)
Are you age 70½ or older? You can give directly from your traditional IRA as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) — and because the gift goes straight from your IRA to CYJ, it’s typically excluded from your taxable income. That can be a real tax advantage over withdrawing the funds yourself and then donating the cash, especially if you take the standard deduction.
Simply instruct your IRA custodian to send a distribution directly to Camp Young Judaea, Inc. (EIN: 74-6063430).
