Benji Lovitt
Director of Communications
As camp’s first Director of Communications, Benji’s Jewish journey comes first circle. He began his Young Judaea experience in Wimberley before continuing to Camp Tel Yehudah and Year Course in Israel.
In 2006, he moved to Tel Aviv, where he spent the next two decades in informal Jewish education, performing standup comedy and running cultural programs exploring Israeli society for audiences worldwide. Over time, he became one of the most recognized English-language voices on Israel, with his perspectives featured across local and international media. In 2024, his book “Israel 201” earned a National Jewish Book Award (co-authored with another YJ alumnus, of course).
In 2026, Benji returned to the US to reside in Austin. When he’s not thinking about camp, he can be found readjusting to his new life stateside.
