We’ve already shared the news, but here’s a quick recap: no one was hurt, and camp isn’t going anywhere. We’re fully confident in our ability to hold every event on the calendar this year, and yes, there will be food.
Following the August fire in our chadar ochel (dining hall), so many of you have asked, “How can we help?” We are grateful for your concern and your desire to support Camp.
Thankfully, CYJ has excellent insurance coverage (a $100,000 deductible), and we are working closely with our insurance company and structural engineers to fully understand both the recovery process and the scope and cost of the work ahead. While we don’t yet know the final financial impact, we do know that significant near-term costs will be incurred as we assess, clean, repair, and restore the dining hall.
In response to the many people who have graciously asked how they can help, we have established a Fire Recovery Fund. Gifts of any size will help CYJ meet these immediate expenses and ensure that we can continue moving forward.
Any funds raised beyond what is needed for fire recovery will roll into our Forward Together Capital Campaign, which is now less than $1 million away from reaching our goal and completing this transformative chapter in CYJ’s history. DONATE HERE
