Two weeks ago, myself, the CYJ-Texas Team, and our board chair attended The Camp Summit - a combination of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s JCamp 180 and Foundation for Jewish Camp’s Leaders Assembly conferences for camp professionals. Think camp for the professionals, except with much more educational programming and less pool time (especially since we were in Chicago!). In reality, it is a time for us to learn from industry experts to continually improve our camper, staff, and family experiences.
After just a few days, I walked away from the conference with dozens of ideas to continue CYJ’s growth, build even better programs, and be the best Jewish summer home for Jewish kids in Texas. As we begin our programmatic development for the summer (yes, we start this early!), I’m excited to share that this summer is shaping up to be the best one in years. From staff training to new programs to new spaces in camp, we have created a great list of things to accomplish to make this summer feel new and exciting.
By the new year, we will have over 500 campers registered for CYJ this summer with many of our programs already sold out. Our campers this summer will get the immediate benefit from new programs and new staff training.
We will continue working hard to make Summer 2025 bring new and exciting experiences to camp while maintaining every piece of CYJ that makes it home for you and your family. As Count Basie and Frank Sinatra said, “The best is yet to come”!
