This Shabbat, we read the parshat Lech Lecha. Many know it as the Brit. I would like to suggest as a “campy thing” to focus less on the circumcision, but the understanding of the covenant, or agreement between Abraham and G-d. The covenant would bring great blessings and rewards, but with the cost of pain and suffering.
Not having Camp this last summer was tough and painful. This pandemic has brought forth uncertainty, struggle, and hardship for so many people. The leadership of the CYJ Board under President Cheryl Drazin worked so hard and became the second jobs for many to ensure that CYJ survived and thrived. Just like Abraham as the father of the Jewish people transmits the covenant through him – our CYJ Board ensures the future of Camp Young Judaea for our chanichim (campers). I am thankful and appreciative to work with such a committed and passionate board.
Thank you and wishing y’all a Shabbat Shalom.
