Spread the Word

Our boss Frank often calls his time in kindergarten “the most important three years of my life.” It was there he learned a powerful lesson – when you love something, you should share it! So with thanks to kindergarten teachers everywhere, we’d liked to invite YOU to share CYJ!

We’ve noticed an interesting trend – when a prospective parent calls us to learn more about Camp, there’s a very good chance it’s because a camp parent recommended us. It’s clear to us that YOU, our camp families, are our BEST recruiters and biggest cheerleaders! A million ads in Jewish papers around the globe doesn’t make half the impact that a single chat with a camp parent or alumnus does. Newcomers to camp need to hear from those who know first-hand, from people who have experienced how great CYJ can be for campers and their families.

So be loud and proud, CYJ! If there’s a kid in your family, synagogue, school, or neighborhood who would gain from a summer at Camp, refer them to us–we’re always happy to grow our camp family!

You could also get the CYJ story out through social media. Just think– instead of fueling procrastination, your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube could help support our camp community, one ‘like’ and ‘share’ at a time!

If you’re really in a helping mood, why not consider…

Hosting a Meet and Greet

One of our favorite ways to meet CYJ newcomers is by setting up a ‘Meet and Greet’. Our top administrative staff comes out to these events and speaks to community members about our programs. Though we already schedule visits to the major Texan cities, we’re happy to schedule more for alternative times and locations.

But before we can have these events, we need a place to host them! CYJ families have always helped us with this, opening their homes for kids and community members to come learn more about Camp. We like that prospective parents get to be comfortable, enjoying couches and armchairs as they ask questions and get to know us. We’ll also provide pizza and entertainment, including our portable gaga court for children (and grown-ups!) to enjoy.

So if you know kids who haven’t heard about CYJ, parents or synagogue boards looking for summer options, or even if you just really love hosting in your home—let us know! Give us a call at 713-723-8354 or email our office at [email protected].

CYJ has only become all that its has through the support of our Camp family. Check out more ways to contribute to Camp Young Judaea-Texas’s mission.
